The municipality of Pretoro also includes the following suburbs: Passo Lanciano, Cona, Ponte, Pagnotto, Sterparo.
Pretoro was part of the Kingdom of Naples before the unification of Italy (1861) and belonged to the former Abruzzo Citra province.
