The municipality of Pizzoferrato also includes the following suburbs: Castiglione, Collalto, Turchi, Valle del Sole.

Pizzoferrato was part of the Kingdom of Naples before the unification of Italy (1861) and belonged to the former Abruzzo Citra province.
