Montenerodomo is a municipality located in the province of Chieti at 1165 meters (3822 feet) of altitude. Montenerodomo has 736 inhabitants and a surface area of 30 square kilometers (11.58 square miles).
The municipality of Montenerodomo also includes the following suburbs: Casale, Fonticelle, Marangola, Schiera, Selvoni, Verlinghiera, Bosco Barone.
Montenerodomo was part of the Kingdom of Naples before the unification of Italy (1861) and belonged to the former Abruzzo Citra province.

Hello, my paternal grandfather was Domenico D’Orazo born about 1897 in Abruzzo. I do not know which province or town. His sisters were Filomena and Carmela D’Orazio . They all came to America. My name is Domenick D’Orazio. I thought about Montenerodomo because the name D’Orazio is a common name there, although it is very common throughout Abruzzo. I plan a trip to Abruzzo in June 2020. If you can be helpful I would appreciate it.

My wife’s relatives were murdered by German soldiers on 2nd February 1944. They were Antonietta DI LUCA (35 years) and her children Antonio (14 years), Consiglia (10 years)and Doroteo (7 years) DI LUCA. We believe them to be remembered on a monument in Piazza Benedetto Croce. Antonietta’s husband Marco was living in Australia, working hard to bring his family to a better future after the war.
