  1. looking for my grandfather info. I was told he left with his family from Longano and went to Argentina then returned because his wife died in Argentina. He remarried in the Longano area and then came to America and lived in Philadelphia Pa. Can u help me research this .?

  2. John,
Not sure if anyone has ever responded to you. I have Veneziale relatives in Philadelphia. From what I’ve discovered, they are all related. I have a tree on Ancestry.com. It is connected to a couple of other trees of Veneziale family members. There is a tree that belongs to Ed Veneziale. He has quite a bit of family info in it. you can reach me at vickih862@gmail(dot)com. I’ve been doing research for quite a while so if you need a hand getting started, let me know. You can set up a free ancestry account. I have a paid membership, so I have access to any records that you may find that you cant access. They do have some free records also.

  5. Ciao Longanesi,

I’m from Philadelphia and my relatives came from Longano as well. I’ve been doing genealogical research for over 20 years. Here are some avenues for you to learn about your ancestors.

    1.) FamilySearch.org

This is a great place to start! It’s a free family tree site with great access to sources. It’s very user friendly for beginners. It has one big shared family tree where everyone collaborates, plus the work may be already done for you. Along with other users, I’ve added a ton of our Loganesi ancestors here.

    2.) Portale Antenati (Ancestors Portal)

If you want to search for direct Italian sources, try https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/find-the-archives-2/?lang=en

a.) Once you’re there you can select the state you want to search (using Longano as an example, you’d select the “State Archives of Isernia”
    b.) Select “Search the registries”
c.) Scroll down to the bottom and under the Locations heading, click “Expand”.
d.) Scroll up and down, as well as left to right to select the exact town (i.e. Longano)
e.) Each register is organized by year and register type: Nati (Birth), Matrimoni (Marriage), and Morti (Death).
f.) The registers are digitized page by page. To translate Italian, open the Google Translate app or website.

    3.) WikiTree.com

Like FamilySearch.org, this site is free and has one collaborative family tree. The site is used by more advanced genealogists and they aim to have the most accurate sourcing possible. It’s one of the best ways to double check if the info you have for your relative is correct. There’s also a decent amount of Longanesi relatives represented here.

    Hope this helps! Have fun!
    Michele
