My ancestors (on my mother’s side) are from Civitaluparella. Rocco Schieda, born in 1885 who married Luccia Lunnatti, born in 1892 were my great grandparents. Domenico Schieda and Maria Chico were Rocco’s parents. Salvatore Lannutti and Carmina Strizzi were Luccia’s parents. I am trying to figure out if there are any relatives still in Civitaluparella.
My relatives were also from Civitaluparella. My grandfather’s name was Joseph Civitarese and he married Rita Marinucci. I looked up the history of the city and apparently an ancient tribe called the Marinucci’s conquered the Civitaluparella region. Weird huh.
My Fathers family was from Civitaluparella. The family name is Ciarico and we are related to the Strizzi family. I was there in 82 and we stayed there with Marco Strizzi who is my father John Ciarico’s cousin.
Hello Renee, Joe and Nick and anyone reading this note,
My father’s family is from Civitaluparella. I am related to Salvatore Lannutti (great-grandfather) who married Carmina Strizzi and both emigrated (separately) to Cleveland, Oho, United States. Salvatore Lannutti became “Samuel Leonard” I think. Salvatore and Carmina’s last child is my grandfather, Charles Vincent Leonard, Sr.
I would love to know if there are any records or stories about this family. I know my grandfather always kept a holy card of Saint Lucy in his wallet, for his sister, whom he loved dearly.
I am from Philadelphia. My father, Charles V. Leonard, Jr. was an aerospace engineer and we moved to Philadelphia in the 1960’s with General Electric.
I often visited my Leonard grandparents in Cleveland, and loved them very much. Now they are gone. I wish I knew more about this side of my family. I was told my grandfather wanted me named “Carmen” for his mother, but my parents would not have it. Recently I discovered that we share a birthday, so maybe that is why he wanted to name me after her.
If you have any information I would love to learn more.
Thank you so much,
Elizabeth Leonard
