I live in the U.S. and I am researching my grandmother’s ancestors. Her father, my Great Grandfather, Sabastino Melaragno listed Forli del sannio on his immigration and draft records. I was told that his father, Santo Melaragno, died suddenly in 1895 so my great grandfather left his home and traveled alone at about 16 years of age to the U.S. I have no other information and have never even seen a photograph of any of my Italian ancestors. I do know that the surname Melaragno is very rare. There may only be about 300 people world wide that have this surname. If anyone out there knows of anything or can help find out about my missing family I would so greatly appreciate it! Family is everything and I would love to know more about my heritage and the people I came from . Thank you so much!
