Picciano is a municipality located in the province of Pescara at 170 meters (558 feet) of altitude. Picciano has 1338 inhabitants and a surface area of 7.56 square kilometers (2.92 square miles).

The municipality of Picciano also includes the following suburbs: Casette, Colletti, Colli, Fontanelle, Incotte, Le Piane, Pagliari, Piccianello, Riparossa, Pezzalonga.

Picciano was part of the Kingdom of Naples before the unification of Italy (1861) and belonged to the former Abruzzo Ultra I province.
