Scoppito is a municipality located in the province of L'Aquila at 820 meters (2690 feet) of altitude. Scoppito has 3285 inhabitants and a surface area of 53 square kilometers (20.46 square miles).

The municipality of Scoppito also includes the following suburbs: Casale, Cave, Civitatomassa, Collettara, Cupoli, Forcellette, Madonna della Strada, Ponte San Giovanni, Santa Dorotea, Santa Maria, Scoppito, Sella di Corno, Vallins?, Vigliano.

Scoppito was part of the Kingdom of Naples before the unification of Italy (1861) and belonged to the former Abruzzo Ultra II province.

  1. My grandfather was from Scopitto . His name Quereno ( SP ?)Lattanzi. He landed in Pennsylvania, then Michigan. I was just curious if there were still any Lattanzi’s in the region
