The municipality of Filignano also includes the following suburbs: Bottazzella, Cerasuolo, Cerreto, Collemacchia, Franchitti, Frunzo, Lagoni, Mastrogiovanni, Mennella, Selvone, Valerio, Valle.
Filignano was part of the Kingdom of Naples before the unification of Italy (1861).
