The municipality of Cermignano also includes the following suburbs: Carbone di Cermignano, Casamarano, Casavino, Montegualtieri, Petriola, Piomba, Poggio delle Rose, Santa Maria, Saputelli, Topetti, villa Compagni, villa Santa Maria di Cermignano.
Cermignano was part of the Kingdom of Naples before the unification of Italy (1861) and belonged to the former Abruzzo Ultra I province.
