Agnone is a municipality located in the province of Isernia at 830 meters (2723 feet) of altitude. Agnone has 5240 inhabitants and a surface area of 96.85 square kilometers (37.39 square miles).

The municipality of Agnone also includes the following suburbs: Fontesambuco, Marzovecchio, Montagna, Monte S.Onofrio, Rigaini, Villacanale.

Agnone was part of the Kingdom of Naples before the unification of Italy (1861) and belonged to the former Molise province.
